There is absolutely nothing wrong with the conference, let’s get that out of the way. It can be a vital stepping stone for many on their way to bigger and better things, however it can also show how far someone have fallen. In other words, shite players getting back down to their level.
Whether it’s age, injuries, skill or a combination of all three, everyone falls off the pedestal eventually. It just seems more likely that this lot will suffer that fate within the next five years.
Yaya Sanogo
Potentially a controversial one, but the bloke is like a disabled giraffe. Sanogo has poor technique, poor finishing, poor control and you may be starting to sense a theme here.
Stick him down there where he'll likely be able to score a couple tap ins here and there.

Jack Wilshere
The man with more injuries than fucking Mr Bump. Still, at least he'll be able to enjoy more nights out.

Andrew Surman
Good old Andrew has been around the block once or twice and as a utility player for the Cherries, he must be pretty comfortable.
It's not going to last forever though, and preparations should already be under way for a dramatic fall from grace. Bet on it.

Stephen Ward
Nothing too great and nothing too bad about Stephen Ward, but he's just kind of there.
You know, the guy who turns up to Sunday League every week, but we're not really sure what he offers.

Wayne Hennessey
Butter fingers. Before his injury the Welshman was considered a hot prospect in the Football League after a string of impressive performances for Wolves, but despite his big move to Palace things didn't really work out that way. Off to Forest Green you go.

Gareth Barry
Legend of the game, but in five years he'll be 40. You do the math.

Brad Guzan
After a horrendous few years at Villa, Brad Guzan probably spends his days sitting around crying in a ball and praying that he never has to play a professional game again.
Send the American down for some rehabilitation before jetting back off to his homeland. Nice and thoughtful.

John O’Shea
Poor John. From the heights of glory under Sir Alex Ferguson to constant mediocrity at Sunderland. Buy a card for him this Christmas - let the guy know he isn't alone.

Craig Cathcart
Craig Cathcart is by far not the worst player on this list, but as the title suggests, in five years time that won't mean shit. For now he's enjoying the high life in the Premier League, but that slap in the face of reality is on it's way.

Chris Brunt
Chris Brunt has been a cracking player for the Baggies over the years, but the 31-year-old is getting to the stage where he needs to think about his long-term future.
Five years may seem like a long time away, but in football it'll go by just like that. Food for thought, Mr Brunt.

Now as many fans proceed to cry and throw things at their laptop, just think about it for a second. The durability of footballers in the modern game isn’t that great, and seeing them slip down the ranks is much more likely than you want to admit. Fact.
Have a look at the 9 players who suffered from ‘Rooney syndrome’…
2008 – Fernando Torres
It's one of those situations where, on one hand, you're devastated that such a talent disappeared, almost overnight. However, on the other hand, you're so pleased that it was Chelsea who got left with an expensive flop.

Fernando Morientes
Raul and Morientes, were serious #relationshipgoals.
And then the Spaniard kind of got, well, a little bit shit.
Shame, really; I always liked being Morientes down the park.

CM) Kaka
Perhaps an element of loyalty coming in here again. Don't get us wrong, Kaka could be a world-beater on his day, but only really had two AMAZING seasons.
Andriy Shevchenko
If ever the slow pace of Italian football suited anyone, it was the Ukrainian superstar.

Joe Cole
A mercurial talent, but a talent nonetheless. Have to wonder what might've been if England had managed to not cock-up their golden generation.
Robin van Persie

Hernan Crespo
Never actually quite sure if the Argentine striker was any good. But football hipsters tell me, so.
Really, really shouldn't have joined Chelsea - sound advice for anyone in football, really.

Fabregas
Nemanja Matic is now deemed a more useful, attacking outlet by Antonio Conte.
