The current best combined El Clasico XI

Barcelona and Real Madrid clash in El Clasico this weekend, and for once it’s the team from Catalonia that head into the game in the throes of a crisis. Yes, they recently had less than 50% possession in their game with Real Sociedad.

A dark cloud may be hanging over the Nou Camp, but in Clasico games you can generally throw the form book out of the window. The intense hype that surrounds the spectacle of Barca Real encounters tends to rile up both sets of players (and, when Mourinho was there, the managers too).

Given that both teams boast an attacking trio capable of gracing pretty much any team throughout football’s 150-year history, choosing a combined XI for the two teams isn’t going to be easy. But we’ve given it our best shot…

One hell of a side. Tough on Bale, but makes sense given the Welshman’s injury and being pre-occupied with gang members.
