Some underwhelming, and some over achieving performers this season. You’ve got your genuine talents; your Diego Costas, your Philippe Countinhos, your Alexis Sanchezs… their quality is rarely in doubt.
But, then there’s also those players who we’ve all thought are lucky to be earning their bread in top flight, yet have started the season bang in form, and all fully deserve their Turkey this coming Christmas; not that the Manchester United boys will be able to enjoy it.
Have a look at the boys who have been doing themselves proud this season…
Tom Heaton
Not just recognised for that performance of the season contender at Old Trafford, but should also be commended for letting Paul Robinson back into top flight. There's still hope for us all.

David Luiz
The FIFA/Simpsons caricature has been simply stunning this season. Grown up a lot, and now doesn't look as unpredictable as 2016 politics...#BrexitGate/#TrumpGate.

Phil Jones
Captain Donkey himself has been a revolution since coming back into the side; looking forward to a fresh injury come 2017.

Mateo Musacchio
Perhaps not quite as well known. But, the Argentine is one for the future. Leads the Villarreal defence - best in Spain - and doing it all without Eric Bailly, means this lad is worth taking note of.

Iago Aspas
The laughing stock when at Anfield, but now finding the net more than George Best during the 60s.

Étienne Capoue
How? Just how is Capoue playing so well this season?! Crackin' player for fantasy football as well; cheap as chips.

Ander Herrera
Reinviagroated United's engine room - or whatever other cheesy superlative you want to call it for that position - and has been the Red Devils' best player this season. That 29million is suddenly looking like the right sort of value.

Suso
Another player to slip through the Anfield net. Assists and goals for fun this season at AC Milan, almost making the Italian giants look respectable once more.

Alassane Pléa
Playing a big part in Nice topping Ligue 1. Nine goals this season, and just 23. Will be some player for France later down the line.

Radamel Falcao
The man written off by just about everyone in the world of football. 10 in 11 for Monaco this season, looks like Bambi on ice has found his feet again.

Mario Balotelli
Another player who couldn't finish his dinner in England, but been revitalised out in France. I think the past two players confirm just how good Ligue 1 is ?...

The mediocrity label brandished on these lads looks to be slowly shaken off by them; we’ll see if they can keep it up in the New Year… wouldn’t bet your Christmas stocking on it, though – surely Phil Jones can’t keep it up…
