No, Arsenal don’t need to re-sign some German bloke who decided he didn’t really fancy playing on the weekend against, Manchester City. But, where they should look is to offer Tony Pulis a new Christmas hat this year; in a bid to sign a forward who’s trying even harder than Peter Odemwingie to leave The Hawthorns.
Yup, the forgotten youngster, Saido Berahino, who if he wasn’t English, would just be another Adnan Januzaj in the Premier League; hyped out, done for, finished.

Problem with Berahino? The kid’s got an attitude; a drink driving ban and not celebrating a hat-trick just about says it all. And then with Tony Pulis, although old school, you’ve got the sort of manager who seems harsh but fair. You do your job, you train hard, and you show good attitude; you simply need to tick the boxes if you’re playing under the Welshman.
Berhanio probably doesn’t exactly fit that mould, the youngster has had history with falling out with coaches such as, Uwe Rosler at Brentford, and it seems that the sort of strikers with a bit of pace and flair about them tend to carry a swag, that gives them some sort of ego boost; the ‘I’m going to be everything that James Milner wouldn’t be’ attitude.
Anyway, I digress, the character that Berhanio is would be the perfect fit for Arsene Wenger to develop. We all know of Le Professeur’s ability to nurture raw talent, I mean bloody songs have been sung about it for god sake. But the fact is, the Frenchman knows what he’s doing with players like, Berhanio; IF Berhanio plays ball.

The striker knows the Premier League; at just 23-years-old, he’s already clocked 105 appearances in the league, and we all know of his talent – 14 goals in the 2014/15 season says what he can achieve. A move to London at a big club like Arsenal, coupled with the management of Wenger would provide the perfect balance of taming the guy’s ego, whilst developing his potential. If he can find the net on 14 occasions playing with the West Brom lads, imagine what he could do with Mesut Ozil in behind him?!
This recognised ability is clear to see amongst rivals, with Tottenham putting big bids in the most recent transfer window; surely that should provide even more of an incentive to sign the forward, just to bloody piss Spurs off.
But, it’s Berhanio’s self-belief which is really exciting, and why a club like Arsenal should gamble on him. When he was questioned of his international allegiance, he responded with…

If he thinks England is going to fit the bill there, then he really does need a reality check; but his clear ambition and want to play at the top level is surely a reason for encouragement. The forward is like a better, Memphis Depay, assured, yes, proven it in the toughest league, yes, genuine potential, definitely.
So, Gunners, gamble on him this January. There’s no arguing Alexis has thrived in the No. 9 role this season, but squad rotation is important during a demanding fixture schedule, and god forbid the Chilean gets injured; there’s more chance Arsenal will win the league with Steve Bold playing up top than Olivier-bloody-Giroud.
And, lets be honest, Alex Iwobi versus Berahino; Alex shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath. Get your cheque book out, Arsene.
