John Terry could now be regretting his decision give Chelsea one more year as his disaster of a season continues. The Blues legend has barely played for the club – and when he has played 90 minutes, the team hasn’t won since August.
Following Nathan Ake’s recall from Bournemouth and a red card against Peterborough, it’s not looking good for Terry as he looks to be even further down the pecking order.
“The last thing I want to do is go out there and get embarrassed every week.”

This extra season for the club hero could turn out to be the most pointless one ever. If he wanted to play for one more year, he’d have been better off doing a year in China. Could Ake’s return be beneficial for Terry? Probably, the less time he gets on the pitch, the less he can embarrass himself.

The Chelsea captain will of course be remembered for his heroics in defence, he is easily one of England’s best defenders in the 21st century, but also one of the most controversial. He doesn’t need anymore controversy. Aside from dubious activity and racist abuse on the pitch, he was a solid defender.
“The body starts talking to you, the pains and the aches get more regular, the way you feel out there on the pitch changes. Always leave with a tiny bit left.”

It appears that Terry could have used some similar advice back in the summer. The captain hasn’t had much fortune at all this year with injuries, and it’s turning out to be a disastrous final year. He can no longer keep up with the demands of the Premier League season.

Great goal in training, but that sort of marking is the sort you see in the MLS – which is why Terry should have followed the paths of Gerrard, Lampard and Pirlo, but he hasn’t listened to his body. The Blue’s captain is in desperate need of just one more good performance where he can be remembered. However, that looks unlikely with the return of Nathan Ake.
All fans can respect the player the Chelsea man once was, and it would be a shame to see him go out on a season where he was useless. The Premier League title race looks like it could go down to the final day this year, and consequently, where can Chelsea risk playing Terry with Ake’s return? The Dutchman is a much more reliable option – the veteran doesn’t suit Conte’s system. The Italian is a good fit for Chelsea, but a terrible one for the captain.
