Cinderella’s glass slipper: Predators are the best in the business

Adam Brown

The Adidas Predators are arguably football’s most famous boots. Associated more with the technically gifted type of player, there’s been no shortage of world-class players who have opted down the route of – whilst less extravagant – very reliable football boots.

Of course, you can’t just put them on and be automatically as good as the likes of David Beckham, but they may somewhat help the average footballer in delivering the occasional Beckham-esque cross.

From crossing, passing to shooting – Adidas have managed to cover all the corners, but who are the best ever players to wear the predators?

David Beckham

The beautiful game’s best crosser of the ball. Ever.

Patrick Vieira

Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante don’t come close to this man.

Steven Gerrard

The Premier League’s best ever player to wear Adidas Predators.

There’s no shortage of world-class midfielder who donned Adidas Predators – people forget just how special the Brazilian was during his Ballon d’Or-winning campaign.

Alessandro Del Piero

The King of Turin reigned supreme, and he did it all whilst wearing Adidas Predators – royalty does only deserve the best.

The most clinical finisher of the last two decades? Ruud van Nistelrooy might have something to say about that. But the Spaniard’s goalscoring record speaks for itself, and lots of those tap-ins were finished with Adidas Predators.

Dimitar Berbatov

The Bulgarian may not be considered amongst the best, but his first touch certainly is. Must be the boots!

Has anyone checked as to whether Adidas Predators do actually give you superpowers? This list is ridiculous.

Zinedine Zidane

The Godfather of football.

Adidas have a catalogue of talent who have opted for the Adidas Predators – they definitely have a case for the games most successful ever football boot. They may not have the games fastest or most skilled players wearing the boots, but they certainly have the games best ever technical players.

Overall, there’s only one place to look if you’re a player who excels technically – rarely giving up possession, dangerous when shooting from range like Steven Gerrard, or someone who keeps it simple like Xavi. It would be very difficult to select a midfield for an all Adidas Predator XI.
