Courtesy of the Claudio Ranieris and Jamie Vardys of the world, Leicester City will forever be immortalised as former champions of the Premier League. For many years prior to that, however, the Foxes had a forgotten legacy within the division that a lot of fans choose to forget about.
Sure they never lit English football on fire or anything, but they had a collection of notable names that helped them towards a series of top half finishes and a couple League Cup triumphs. Of course the 2015/16 campaign is all they’ll ever really be remembered for by most and there’s nothing wrong with that, but a bit of appreciation wouldn’t go a miss.
Simon Grayson
Grayson being away from the North feels wrong by definition, but he actually spent five incredibly successful years in Leicestershire. Image Source: Twitter
Mark Robins
The former Untied prodigy Robins didn’t exactly hit the ground running upon joining the club in 1995, with just 12 goals in 56 appearances to his name.

Steve Claridge
Sure he may have been as dull as dishwater during his stint as a pundit, but Claridge was a top quality striker for Leicester. In addition to being top goalscorer during one of his seasons there, he also scored the decisive goal in a League Cup Final. Hero.

Kasey Keller
The American hero has another feather in his cap alongside his Spurs and Bundesliga days – and that’s his tenure with the Foxes. Image Source: Twitter
Neil Lennon
Four years of service turned Neil Lennon into something of a fan favourite. Image Source: Twitter
Gary Rowett
We wouldn’t want to come face-to-face with Rowett on a football pitch – because as a defender, the gaffer was one mean bloke.

Dean Sturridge
Switching from Derby to Leicester is something that’s a tad frowned upon in the East Midlands, and it didn’t help that poor old Dean had to fight off people like Akinbiyi for a starting place. Image Source: Twitter
Dennis Wise
A horrible player with a horrible attitude, who couldn’t tape over his many flaws at Filbert Street. Image Source: Twitter
Les Ferdinand
Les Ferdinand deserved better than Leicester City’s 2003/04 relegation campaign, even as a grizzled old veteran of the game. Image Source: Twitter

Schalke, Dortmund, Spurs, unsuccessful loan spell with Leicester. Doesn’t really add up, does it?

Leicester fans would’ve likely enjoyed that trip down memory lane, but now it’s time to start looking forward to the future. With their Champions League exploits now over and done with, they need to build towards a brighter tomorrow that ensure younger Foxes have something to cheer about in 10 years time.
