With the shallowest cavity, the MP-64 offers a touch more forgiveness than a traditional blade – with Mizuno’s R&D team focussed on producing the softest, most solid feel possible.
A quest for more feedback led the MP-64 to a thicker, bulging muscle pad behind a wider portion of the clubface. The thicker portion produces the smoother feel that Mizuno’s tour staff recognised from previous muscleback irons.
The smoother look and feel of the MP-64 is complemented by a softer edged, more playable sole shape. While Mizuno’s overall tour grind is maintained, less defined edges produce more consistent turf interaction and distance control.
Long iron cavities are deeper than the MP-64’s predecessor – ensuring that forgiveness is added where needed most. Cavity depth reduces evenly through the set, until reaching the compact short irons – which are thick and feel orientated.
MP-64’s are Grain Flow Forged at Mizuno’s exclusive Hiroshima / Japan facility for exceptional precision – now evident in the 3D Runbird.
