Could we be seeing a combined PGA and LPGA event soon?
LPGA commissioner Mike Whan told Golf Digest it’s going to happen.
“Yes, I believe we will [have a mixed event],” Whan told Golf Digest. “When we first started discussing with Tim Finchem, he pulled out his 2016 schedule from his jacket pocket and there wasn’t a whole lot of space on it. I said, ‘We don’t even have next year’s schedule.’
“So it’s a matter of date challenges, finding open windows, but it’d be good for game, there would be a chance to bring together young and old players and I know they’d enjoy it. And we know fans have genuine interest in it, so hopefully things will align.”
Rickie Fowler and Michelle Wie vs. Jordan Spieth and Lydia Ko? HOW DOPE.

I’m just imagining all of the girls totally nailing their drives, and all the PGA players just looking on in awe. Not at their clothes, but at their actual golfing skills. Which is exactly what the LPGA needs, a chance to show the viewers that they are just as talented as the guys. It will also, I’m sure, get a prime time airing spot, that the LPGA tournaments don’t usually get, increasing views.
In the end though, it’s all about growing the game, no?
I love this idea. PGA-LPGA combo for the win!
