Defending champion Jason Day will miss the Wednesday pro-am at this week’s Farmers Insurance Open because of flu-like symptoms, according to tournament officials.
The first thing I thought of when I heard Day had the flu, was that scene in Mean Girls, you know, the one with the 3 way phone call going on?
Yeah, that one. I can just imagine Day on the phone with officials being like, “Hey guys, won’t be making it to the pro-am tomorrow.. I’m *cough* sick.” I wonder if the officials will start putting Kalteen bars into his bag, just to show him who’s boss.
Day said he is still on schedule to compete in the tournament starting Thursday. He is paired with J.B. Holmes and Harris English in the first two rounds, teeing off at 12:20 p.m ET. Hopefully the weather will be nice, although I’m sure someone will be able to tell them if it starts raining.
Feel better, Day!
