As we all know, Jack Nicklaus is quite the class act. He’s vouched for Jordan Spieth before and now, he’s standing up for Tiger Woods as speculation rages on about the latter’s health. He recently hosted a dinner party for all the American Ryder Cup hopefuls in his Florida home on Thursday. As the Ryder Cup Assistant Captain, Woods happened to be present and Nicklaus can confirm that he is in great shape, in case you were wondering.

“He looked very good. He looked very healthy and he really misses playing, so that’s good. He says he was feeling great, and he was able to stand over a putt and a chip now without having any leg pain and so forth. We didn’t really talk a lot about it.”

So much for barely being able to sit upright in a car, you shameless gossip mongers. However, Nicklaus was quick to clarify that this positive report didn’t mean that Tiger Woods was set for a return to past glory any time soon. After his two back surgeries last year, he’s still not in any condition to be competing in a tournament quite yet.

“He doesn’t have a timetable for returning or anything,” Nicklaus said.

Be that as it may, it’s always a tremendous boon when you have the likes of Jack Nicklaus on your side. Makes Brandel Chamblee look a little silly for worrying, doesn’t it?
