Sir Alex Ferguson greeted Danny Willett after the Englishman’s win at Augusta yesterday. The Scotsman is a keen golfer who also loves a flutter (and a drink, as you’ll see), so watch as he approaches Willett to joke about his recent bet. It turns out the Yorkshireman’s -5 final round cost more than just a second Spieth green jacket. Fergie had £8,000 running on the American at 8/1 odds, so a Spieth win would have pocketed him a cool £64,000.
Not that this bothered the Scot:
‘I had £8,000 on Spieth!’ he exclaimed, causing Willett to jokingly apologise. “I’m so delighted. I’m so delighted honestly. Happy to throw it away,” Fergie added.

Fergie is believed to be worth around £60 million, so he shouldn’t have too much trouble getting over the loss. He is clearly enjoying his retirement: ‘I’m very fortunate in my life to be able to retire and go and see that. If I had been manager of Man United, I wouldn’t have been here.
Congratulations, Danny Willett. Just a normal bloke claiming one of the most coveted titles in golf.
