There is nothing quite like watching Phil Mickelson rip a wedge shot. This punch into Troon’s notorious “Postage Stamp” was an absolute beauty. Lefty has his ball on a string when he’s in form, and believe me he’s destroying the field. He was -8 yesterday, 3 shots better than anyone else, and almost clinched a major championship record with his final putt. You have to watch the highlights of his round to appreciate his dominance.

The weather has turned today. The rain has come and we can expect bigger scores for the second round. We could be witnessing something special with Phil Mickelson this week – jinx activated. He was bogey-free for his first 27 holes, that puts him in a very exclusive club.
