Jordan Spieth struggles at The Open Championship, completely loses his s**t

Jordan Spieth got the raw end of the deal today. Going out late, he fell victim to some atrocious weather that set in and got progressively worse as the round continued. “Are you kidding me” he bellowed, totally perplexed by the aggressive wind. That would have been on the road a few holes ago,” he added, somewhat confused by the wind’s decision to leave his ball alone.

Jordan had the sour taste of links golf in his mouth. He struck the ball well on the first day and seemed confident he could go from there.

“I struck the ball as well as I’ve struck it since Hawaii, maybe,” Spieth said Thursday, referring to his first-round even-par score as well as his win at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. “I really hit the ball phenomenally well today. I probably hit it as well as anybody in the field and shot five, six shots over the leader, so that normally doesn’t happen for me. That’s normally my really low round. So if I can keep my rhythm and my swing as we lead into these tougher condition days, the next couple days, I should be able to make up some strokes.”

It wasn’t to be, and at +4 he barely squeezed himself into the weekend. Phil Mickelson is the hot favourite, watching his highlight video is a complete masterclass.
