Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the fourth major of the year, The PGA Championship.
Since he is still recovering from the back surgery he had in September, Woods revealed today that he will be unable to play in the PGA Championship at Baltusrol in Springfield, N.J.
The PGA of America has provided the below statement:
“We have been in contact with Tiger’s agent, Mark Steinberg, and he informed us today that our four-time PGA Champion will be unable to join us at Baltusrol Golf Club next week for the 98th PGA Championship.”
This is the first time in Tiger’s golfing career that he will be missing all four majors. He has missed two consecutive majors for the same reason in past years but this is new for Woods. The difference is this year he is taking his time to recover, where in the past he rushed the healing process which has led to this.
How many times can Tiger withdraw from tournaments this year? No one is surprised at this point and frankly no one really cares anymore. People will start caring when he says he’s playing, but until that point Tiger Woods withdrawing is old news.
