Tiger Woods wanted to be a Navy Seal and now he gets to put his military mind to work.
Earl Woods was a US Army infantry officer who served two tours of duty in Vietnam, and retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel. Growing up, Tiger first learned how to play golf on the military golf courses in Southern California.
This is where Tiger Woods fell in love with the military forces. Even though he never enlisted, Woods wanted to be a Navy Seal and even trained with the most elite combat teams. He has been invited to secretive training facilities in the California desert and been taught to shoot, clear buildings and even jump from an aircraft.
He’s finally bringing his training to use as the Ryder Cup Vice Captain for Team USA. Davis Love III spoke to the media about how Tiger is treating his new role.
“Tiger is more interested in the strategy side of it — rounding out the team with picks, or making small groups, making pairings. He’s our tactician more than anything.”

Who else uses tactical strategies? Oh, I don’t know.. The military, maybe? I wonder if Love calls him Sgt instead of VP.
The Ryder Cup is approaching fast and soon we will get to witness whether or not Woods’ prep paid off. Maybe that’s what the US needs to beat the UK. A strong military hand straight from one of the best golfers in the world.
