Rory McIlroy was talking to the media at the Barclays today and was asked about how he is dealing with the Nike announcement. Turns out the Irishman is a bit of a hoarder!
Although Nike may have exited the golf ball industry, that’s no problem for Rory. He is stocked up and ready to go with 3 years supply of Nike golf balls.
The show Hoarding now has a new episode they could (should) air. Rory McIlroy: The Golf Ball Hoarder. Instant classic.
His new putter, which he mentions, is a Scotty Cameron. A lot of golfers have Scotty’s, but Jordan Spieth is the most well known golfer who wields this weapon of choice. The reason for this change was mostly because of his missed cut at the PGA Champ, so we’ll see how the Scotty works out.
Although Rory says he will try to be free from a club sponsor for a while, that doesn’t mean people aren’t sending him a boat load of clubs. Maybe one of the companies will make him a deal he can’t refuse, but for now Rory’s not looking to sign.
