Phil Mickelson is so excited for Tiger Woods’ return, that he’s asking to be paired with him at his first tournament back.
Tiger announced that he is hoping to return to professional golf, starting with the Safeway Open in October. When Mickelson heard the news, he jumped at the opportunity to express his feelings and wants.
“I think it’s great; I don’t know the state of his health. I haven’t seen him,” Mickelson told ESPN. “I’m looking forward to spending time with him at the Ryder Cup. I think that’ll be great motivation for him. Plus, he’ll have a week off.”
Woods will be a vice captain and this will be Mickelson’s 11th appearance at the Ryder Cup. What better way to get pumped for your return, than by coaching the U.S. Team to victory (or so we hope).
“I’m hoping we can get paired together,” Mickelson remarked. “That would be really fun. I would love it. It’s great to have him back, and hopefully he’s physically able to practice the way he needs.”
A Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods pairing? I don’t think it could get much better than that. No one in their right mind would deny that request. Fingers crossed..
