There’s been some epic and terrible chants from the galleries at the Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup audience have been on song during the first day of the Ryder Cup.

The Europeans have  had a horror start. The visitors are four down to the Americans in their worst opening for 40 years. This gave the home crowd something to cheer about.

There have been a mixed array of chants floating around the galleries; some good, some funny, most terrible.

Guardians of the Ryder Cup

An absolute fruitcake of an Englishman leads Europe’s “Guardians of the Ryder Cup.” They always stick out amongst the crowd. Here they are in 2014 and again they leave an awesome impression.

Just the worst chant…

“I believe that we will win. . .” is repetitively infectious to the ear drums.

“Go away, away, away, away. . . “

Not the worst idea for a retort to Europe’s well known”ole, ole, ole, ole”. “It felt a little mean,” wrote Golf Digest’s Alex Myers. I disagree, you have to be a little cutting to have an impact, keep it witty mind.

Arnold Palmer

The legend’s name rang out during the tournament, especially when his bag was placed next to the first tee. The crowd acknowledged the king with a raucous tribute.

The atmosphere at the Ryder Cup has been typically hostile, tempered by moments of humour and lashings of banter.
