The battle between McIlroy and Reed will go down as one of the fiercest contests in Ryder Cup history.
This was the moment that every person watching the Ryder Cup lost their shit. Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy exposed their emotions during an incredible display of golf on the front nine. Reed pulled ahead on the back nine and hung on for a 1 Up victory with a birdie on 18 to give the Americans their first point of the day.
“I am running on fumes,” McIlroy said following Europe’s 17-11. “I won three points. I wish I could have been better, but I did all I could.”
“All the energy I expended this week, it caught up to me on the back nine today. I was trying to summon up the energy. I was trying to do everything I could. I was taking loads of fluids and trying to eat plenty.

Watching these to play to the crowd was phenomenal, but the respect they showed each other as they left the green was even better.
Reed vs. Rory would make up for Drumpf vs. Hillary.
