BREAKING: Tiger Woods withdraws from Safeway Open

Tiger Woods pulls out in the worst way possible to disappoint us all. Only a week after confirming his appearance at the Safeway Open, Woods decided to withdraw from both the Safeway and Turkish AirlinesĀ Open.

This news shocked many, as the hope for a Tiger Woods comeback is locked in the hearts of fans and Tour venues everywhere. I’m sure those fans who bought Safeway and Turkish Airlines tickets are sorely disappointed by the fact that Woods will no longer be there.

In an open letter on his website, Tiger apologizes for his last minute decision.

“I would like to apologize and send my regrets to Safeway, the Turkish Airlines Open, the fans in California and Turkey and those that had hoped to watch me compete on TV.”

He knows what he’s done and an apology is admirable, as the circumstances stand. He also mentioned in the note, that he plans on attending hisĀ foundation’s event, The Hero World Challenge, in Albany. Who knows if that will actually happen.

Unfortunately we will have to wait longer, if not indefinitely, for a Tiger Woods return to the field.
