Today, the European Tour took golf to a whole new level. They went from 0-100 real quick.
The European Tour created an event called the Hero Challenge, an hour long event with eight golf personalities competing for the title to make golf more entertaining.

The format consists of eight players in a basic, single-elimination bracket, all playing one hole, a 145-yard par-3 specially set up just for this event at The Grove. There will be seven one-hole matches in the bracket as the field of eight knocks each other off to one eventual winner. If players tie on the hole, e.g. both make a birdie 2 on the par-3 setup, then they will use a closest to the hole measurement on the tee shot to determine the winner.

It seems like they got some good crowds to come out to the event, and hopefully the U.S. will follow suit. Maybe even Tiger would be able to play one par-3.. Wishful thinking, I know. But when tweets like this occur, you know something is right.
Something interesting is happening. My kids won’t let me turn off the golf. Normally I can’t get them to watch #HeroChallenge #SkySports

Great concept, awesome show. I don’t see how other venues won’t join in on this fiery debacle! Thank you, European Tour, for getting the ball rolling.
