Jamie Sadlowski is getting a chance at the New South Wales Open.
Jamie burst onto the scene back in 2008, the year he won his first world title. He won $250,000 that year, and $150,000 defending it in 2009. Sponsored by Callaway, at 5’10” and 168 pounds, he is of average height and build.
He is compared to lovable movie character Happy Gilmore – due to his obsession with ice hockey.
“The only difference between me and Happy Gilmore is I can skate a whole lot better than he can,” “I remember watching Happy Gilmore when I was a kid and I was like, ‘Man, that guy just hit it 400 yards and there’s no way a guy can do that’.”
The 28-year-old will appear at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club to play a week prior to the Australian Open. This comes after he announced that he would be quitting long drive contests to try to earn a ticket on the US PGA Tour.
Drive for show, putt for dough. It’s all well and good if you punish the ball, but none of this matters if you can’t putt.
His records as of 2010:
- 350 yards with a 14 degree hybrid.
- 300 yards with a 3-iron.
- 260 yards with a 5- iron.
- 240 yards with a 7-iron.
- 180 yards with a pitching wedge.
This would mean Jamie could possibly hit driver pitching wedge into some of the longest holes on TOUR. His 445-yard personal best would make him very entertaining to watch on a golf course.
