Lexi Thompson has been added to the field for the 28th Franklin Templeton Shootout in Naples, Florida.
She will be the first female golfer to play in this event since Annika Sorenstam in 2006. She’s also the first to play in any type of PGA Tour event since Michelle Wie in 2008.
This unofficial PGA Tour event features 12-teams of two competing in a three-day, 54-hole stroke play tournament. The Shootout will feature a different format during each competitive round – scramble (Thursday), alternate shot (Friday) and better ball (Saturday).
Thompson has won seven times on the LPGA Tour, including one major, and is currently 4th in the rankings. To see her kicking it with the boys will be entertaining, to say the least. One female among 23 men. Sounds like a sick porno, but that’s just life.
She’ll have no problem keeping up with the guys.
Reigning champs Jason Dufner and Brandt Snedeker will be defending their title after winning last year. The pairings will be announced early November and the tournament itself will be held on December 8th to 10th.
