At this point in his career, Tiger Woods has become the boy who cried wolf, and we’re all getting sick of it.
People either want Tiger Woods to retire already or they want him to get back on Tour so they can see him succeed at the same level he was at before his surgery. We don’t want to be jerked around, which is how a lot of people felt after Woods’ withdrawal from the Safeway Open and Turkish Airlines Open.
Thankfully we have Tiger’s agent, Mark Steinberg, to keep us in the loop about his progress and much anticipated return in December.
According to an ESPN report, Steinberg said Woods is “getting after it a bit more, continuing to work toward that goal and excited to get back out there and compete, see the guys and be in the locker room instead of being an assistant captain.”
“The determination is still there. We’ve still got two weeks to go, but he is doing the things necessary to get himself as ready as he can be, but it’s going to be 15 months since the last time he played competitively.”
This is all fine and dandy if you believe Steinberg, who is always going to praise Tiger and give him the benefit of the doubt as his agent. Hopefully he’s right and we’ll be seeing Woods play in the Hero World Challenge in a few weeks time.
If not.. let’s not even go there.
