$7 million to sponsor Tiger Woods’ golf bag

ESPN’s king of the scheduled tweet, Darren Rovell reports Tiger Woods will have a new bag sponsor when he returns to competition at the Hero World Challenge this week.

Monster Energy will grace what was once the most coveted golf bag real estate in the game, assuming the position that Titleist, Buick, AT&T, Nike, Fuse Science, and MusclePharm once occupied.

The similarity between the Monster and MusclePharm logos is interesting. It’s like Tiger said, “I only want a new bag sponsor if the logo involves neon green and the letter M!”

If you’re wondering what it costs to slap your logo on the 14-time major winner’s bag, the answer seems to be $7 million. MusclePharm, who recently terminated its deal with Woods, disclosed that it had paid Woods that amount. The company forked over an additional $2.5 million to get out of the arrangement (which was supposed to continue through June of 2018).

Woods’ current sponsors include Nike, Hero, Kowa, Upper Deck, Rolex.

Of all the eras of Woods’ bag sponsors, we’re partial to Buick and Woods’ brilliant acting in associated commercials like this one (not really).

Who would you like to see on TW’s bag? Trojan? Call of Duty?
