Why teaming up with Nike is Jason Day’s dream come true

Jason Day recently signed a new apparel deal with Nike and it’s a dream come true. You know who also wore the Nike swoosh? *insert tiger emoji here*

The PGA Tour caught up with Day and he dished on everything Nike:

“Yeah, it’s probably a little bit of a different look. It’s a massive difference. A lot of people probably haven’t got used to the sight of me actually wearing the swoosh and being able to wear Nike stuff but it is great.

When I was 16, 17, I was wearing the stuff, and I was so happy because that’s what Tiger was wearing. This is an exciting time because I feel like I’m coming into the peak of my career and I’m able to play some of my best golf and also wear the best brand in golf sporting apparel-wise. I’m looking forward to the future.”

If you grew up watching and idolizing Tiger Woods and then suddenly you were No. 1 in the world, it might feel like everything was coming full circle with this Nike deal. You’re favorite golfer, and arguably one of the greatest golfers ever, wore Nike. It only makes sense to wear it too.

“I remember growing up in junior golf, a lot of us wore Nike stuff because of Tiger. We wanted to be like him. One guy used to have the swoosh all over his body including a swoosh earring. He would hole par putts and fist pump like Tiger. We grew up doing things like that and to now be actually part of the Nike team — it’s really cool.”

Not only does this give Day a huge confidence boost but it probably just feels right, which means he’ll be comfortable in it when he plays. The No. 1 apparel brand with the No. 1 golfer. Makes sense to me!
