With Nike’s exit from the golf club industry, Rory McIlroy was forced to switch equipment. He decided to add Callaway and Titleist to his bag, but he’s still testing out the waters.
Rory will be debuting his clubs at the South African Open this week and he wasn’t shy when asked about his loyalty (or lack there of) to his new sticks.
“They are picked for this week but that could change week to week,” McIlroy told reporters on Tuesday. “This is my first event with those clubs, so we will see how it goes this week.”
Even though he’s playing with Callaway and Titleist equipment now, depending on how he plays, or feels, he may switch. He has been seen practicing with a TaylorMade driver and fairway woods in the past, so you never know.

McIlroy is definitely leaving sponsors on their toes, waiting for him to make a decision and hopefully choose their branded equipment. Anyone who signs with Rory will be rolling in it, no doubt. But in the end it’s up to Rory.
“You never really know until you have a card in your hand, and at the end of the day, the person swinging the club is more important than the club itself.”
