As Barack Obama’s reign as the 44th President of the United States comes to an end, an invitation to become a member at the Woodmont Country Club has officially been sent out.
A controversy regarding Obama’s politics towards Israel ruffled some feathers in the predominantly Jewish club, that led to an argument between members on whether they should extend him an invitation. The mayor of the town, and long time member, then quit the club in protest of the treatment towards Obama, hoping to persuade others to do the same.
While none quit, it seems as though the club finally made a verdict in favor of Obama’s membership. The club sent out an email to Woodmont members, letting them know the President would be receiving an official invitation to join.
“Political views have never been part of our membership criteria, and our members have always reflected a range of opinions on issues of the day. In the current, deeply polarized political environment, it is all the more important that Woodmont be a place where people of varying views and beliefs can enjoy fellowship and recreation in a relaxed environment.”

I think it is very smart of these members to put aside politics for a moment and realize that sometimes acceptance is the best answer to adversity.
