At 6 years old, Tommy Morrissey got to live his dream. Yesterday, the handi-capable 6 year old played the “One Arm Challenge” with PGA players. The catch, PGA players had to play like Tommy– with one arm.
Tommy was born with only one arm, however that has done nil to keep him from golfing. After picking up the game, Tommy fell in love. Now, he’s so good at the game he can go toe to toe in the competition with the likes of Ryo Ishikawa.
The video below shows Tommy in action, coming within 10 feet of the hole on some shots. Keep in mind the mini tourney was a closest to the pin contest.
This pre Honda Classic match isn’t Tommy’s first time around the block. Previously, Tommy appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show and took lessons from Ernie Els and Tiger Woods.
Even Billy Horschel partook in the festivities. Billy apparently still harbors a friendly grudge with Tommy, who took him to town last fall in Vegas. This time, Billy got the win, but win or lose, Tommy always comes out on top. Regarding Tommy, Horschel said:
“He’s 6. He plays with one arm. And he doesn’t miss a shot. Seriously, he does not miss a shot. It’s just impressive to see him play golf and enjoy it so much.”
If Morrissey plays this good now, you think he could go pro in 20 years? We will keep our eyes on you Tommy; keep being great!
