Rafa Cabrera Bello: The best reaction to a missed putt ever

In case you missed it, Rafa Cabrera Bello was the most charismatic player at the Players Championship this past week.

Rafa ended the week on top of the leaderboard with a finish of T4 at -6. Even with his incredible finish, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies throughout the round. After nearly making in an extremely long putt, his reaction to the miss was unforgettable.

A golf club sword to the chest aught to do the trick:

It was an emotional tournament for the Spaniard and he was definitely keeping the fans entertained. On top of the theatrics, Rafa ended up making the third ever albatross in Players history on the 16th hole of TPC Sawgrass. He’s third to Hunter Mahan who made his in 2007 on the par-5 11th in round two and Peter Lonard’s shot on the par-5 second in the third round of the same year.

“Obviously, it was pretty spectacular. I saw it kick off the bank of the bunker and I was a bit worried at the beginning because I kind of felt that it shot a little too fast, and I’m like, oh, is that going to go in the water now.

“Then I saw it rolling towards the hole. … I saw it bump with the flag and I didn’t know what happened; had it gone in or had it just stayed just like a foot away or something like that. Then I saw the crowd and just went crazy and enjoyed it.”

It was a truly perfect approach that the golf gods decided to get behind. His club throw was the cherry on top, even though it landed in the water hazard to the right of the hole. (Don’t worry, he was able to reach it and retrieve it for the rest of the round)

It was Cabrera Bello’s highest finish of the season and moved him from 112th to 80th in the FedExCup.

We’ve seen some pretty great celebrations or reactions to putts, but Rafa’s was so unique it has to top the list. Have you ever noticed that when golfers react, it kind of looks like they’re taking a dump? If you don’t believe me, see for yourself:
