Tiger Woods was arrested for driving under the influence early Monday morning.
Per a report from WPTV.com, Woods was arrested in Jupiter, Fla where he lives. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the 14-time major champion was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. He was booked at 7:18 a.m. and released on his own recognizance at 10:50 a.m.
Shades of Woods’ 2009 arrest after driving into a fire hydrant, which loosened the floodgates on revelations of his industrial-sized infidelity operation. The golfer has worked steadily to rebuild his reputation in the years since, and doubtless this incident (with an instantly iconic mugshot) will loom large.
Woods has not played professionally since February due to multiple back issues. Last week, Woods said in a statement on his website that he plans to continue playing golf. He indicated that a fourth back surgery in April has him feeling as good as he has in years, but that he wouldn’t be able to make the twisting motion required by the golf swing for at least 2.5 months.
