The Golf Channel has become a go-to source for all things golf related. They have a new correspondent in the fold with a lot to offer, Alexandra O’Laughlin. Her presence for the channel extends onto social media and gives the audience some insights they would not normally receive.
We thought it would be a good idea to get to know O’Laughlin a bit better, as she will be covering events for years to come. All the questions were asked by myself, the replies were written by O’Laughlin herself.
Alexandra O’Laughlin Q&A-
You played golf at Lewis University for three years, what are you most proud of accomplishing there?
“Graduating early, being a two-time Academic All-America, three-time Academic All-Conference, and completing two internships.”
You’ve had a successful modeling career, can you tell us about that?
It was a great way to earn money growing up. It also never gets old going to the mall and-there you are!
What is it like working for Golf Channel? What exactly do you do?
“It’s incredible! The amount of golf knowledge people have at the channel is unbelievable and impresses me everyday. As far as my role- this summer I am traveling to tournaments hosting segments and interviews with our analysts, commentators, golfers and celebrities on our social platforms.”
What is the most memorable experience you’ve had working for the Golf Channel to this point?
“Being hired! It was such a surreal experience picking up my contract and then heading to the Arnold Palmer Invitational afterward and getting a tour of the Golf Central set. That’s when it sunk in that I was officially starting my dream job!”
Why should we tune in and watch you cover the great sport of golf?
“I bring a youthful energy to the sport and show the tournaments from a different perspective than what has ever been shown. I have a new position at Golf Channel so this is all new content we are creating.”
You were named one of CLICKON’s must follow female golfers on Instagram, what makes your page worth checking out?
“Swing speaks for itself;);)”
What are some of your hobbies?
“Anytime I have free time I am playing golf, but I also love shooting hoops or working on my soccer juggling skills (usually in the house until something gets broken). Traveling is very important to me- anytime I have the time I try and go to another country. I like being creative. Learning new songs on the guitar and piano. Drawing. Taking my GoPro out to shoot stuff so I can edit together something cool. Don’t mind a binge watch on Netflix either.”
What life goals do you have that you still want to accomplish?
“I set short term goals. I think they are more effective than fixating on something far off in the distance. That’s what I did with golf. When I started in 8th grade it was my goal to make Varsity my freshman year, then go to state as a freshman, play golf in college, and then continue working in golf at Golf Channel. Right now I am focusing on improving as a broadcaster.”
O’Laughlin is focused, humble, and a fun new personality for golf lovers to embrace. While she is at the beginning of her career, she has already shown poise and a high level of professionalism. Be sure to follow her on Instagram and Twitter (@olaughlinGC).
