The ‘Player of the Game’ award has provided NA LCS pros with yet another leaderboard upon which to tussle for top position. As the NA LCS prepares to crown its Summer MVP, the ‘Player of the Game’ accolade tally for the split provides an indication towards the frontrunners for the award.
The 2017 Summer Split has seen a host of players stepping into the spotlight for their teams, taking games by the scruff of the neck and producing heroic plays to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Unsurprisingly, the usual suspects tallied numerous ‘Player of the Game’ awards once again. Notably, Cloud9’s Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen was a spearhead for the squad during an otherwise languid split for last season’s finalists, whereas the likes of Counter Logic Gaming’s Darshan “Darshan” Upadhyaha and Immortals’ Eugene “Pobelter” Park rediscovered their best form to push their team’s towards the league summit:
CLG/TL Dardoch: 7
Dardoch's strong early showing for CLG earned the jungler a number of POG's at the beginning of the split. After returning to TL, the troubled jungler added to his tally.
FLY WildTurtle: 7
Though the highlights have been few and far between for WildTurtle, his carry performances for FlyQuest have earned him a number of POG accolades.
IMT Xmithie: 7
Xmithie has reinvented the Immortals line-up with his team orientated jungling style.
FOX Froggen: 7
Consistently the shining light for Echo Fox during their game victories, Froggen accumulated the overwhelming majority of the team's POG awards.
NV Lira: 7
NV Lira is widely regarded as the best jungler in the NA LCS and left his mark in 7 NV victories over the course of the Summer Split.
C9 Sneaky: 7
It hasn't been the strongest split for Cloud9 or Sneaky, but the AD carry still managed to tally 7 POG awards as he tallied his 1000th kill.
C9 Jensen: 8
The Cloud9 mid laner is a hot favourite to earn the NA LCS MVP award, having almost single-handedly carried Cloud9 out of a mid-split slump with his incredible performances.
CLG Darshan: 8
The CLG top laner rediscovered his form in the Summer Split, demonstrating a broad champion pool as he provided a constant threat for his team.
DIG Ssumday: 8
Ssumday came into his own as the meta shifted towards top lane carries, steamrolling over the best of his top lane rivals as Dignitas climbed the table.
IMT Pobelter: 8
The core of the IMT roster, Pobelter was back to his best in the Summer Split. Working in harmony with Xmithie, the mid laner's consistency provided a foundation upon which IMT has built its title bid.
TSM Bjergsen: 12
With clear daylight between himself and his nearest rivals, Bjergsen has once again been a cut above the rest in the Summer Split. Already a three time winner of the MVP award, a fourth would surely secure Bjerg as the greatest player in NA LCS history.

Players, coaches, the broadcast team, and selected media representatives take part in the voting for the MVP awards. Stats and performances are considered to make their choice, though the voting does not always align with public consensus.
Team SoloMid’s Kevin “Haunzer” Yarnell was considered the favourite to claim the Spring Split prize, but Phoenix1’s No “Arrow” Dong-Hyeon swooped in to claim the prize in his debut split.
According to the tally of ‘Player of the Game’ awards, Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg should be a hot favourite to claim the title for a record fourth time. But as history has shown, a dark horse is more than capable of winning the MVP accolade once all the votes have been cast and counted.
