Floyd Mayweather calls Justin Bieber a ‘traitor’ after petty social media breakup

Floyd Mayweather and Justin Bieber recently made headlines after Bieber unfriended the boxer on Instagram. A move that prompted the end to a long-standing friendship between two celebrities who love the limelight.

The end of this unlikely duo was initiated by Bieber, who recently told TMZ that he thought Conor McGregor could take Mayweather. A low blow for a friend to say about an undefeated champion in the boxing ring. The singer then deleted Mayweather from his friends on Instagram, breaking the camels back, and sufficiently cutting ties.

Bieber has reportedly been trying to cut out toxic friends from his life per lessons from Hillsong Church, including Mayweather, who often posts about strip club promotions on his Insta. Of course, with any public breakup, drama ensued. Mayweather preceded to call Bieber a ‘traitor’ after going ‘insane’ and ‘nuclear’, according to sources.

His reaction is not without reason, as the two have been friends since Bieber compared himself to the champion in a magazine article back in 2012.

“Now that I’m on top, everyone wants to bring me down,” he said. “Everyone’s trying to tug at me and take my spot. Like Floyd Mayweather, he’s the best boxer in the world. Now he is a champion. Every time he goes to a fight now, people are like, ‘He’s going to lose this time.'”

The two met and Mayweather thought Bieber could reach his level of ‘greatness’ if he adopted his work ethic, offering to be a mentor to the then 18-year-old.

Then Bieber accompanied Mayweather to the ring before his fight with Miguel Cotto, and the rest is history.

The two enjoyed times at strip clubs, ‘the money team’ making it rain whenever they could. Not only did they spend time together but Mayweather stuck up for Bieber when the media called him out for racist comments he had made in the past. While Bieber has been there for Mayweather with support in the ring, the boxer always came to the singer’s defense outside of it too.

While Mayweather may not be the most humble and promotes his business whenever he can, it would have been common decency to talk to him privately and discuss why Bieber couldn’t look at his pictures on Insta without being triggered. This isn’t something that should be told, and honestly, it seems like a bit of a ploy on Bieber’s part to get Mayweather down before his biggest fight.

If Bieber is truly betting on Conor McGregor to win the fight against his friend, then what better way to get in his head by dropping some personal beef on him before he gets in the ring? Drama drama drama. Who will be there to stick up for Justin Bieber now?
