UFC star and Conor McGregor rival Nate Diaz said that McGregor has a “great chance” against Floyd Mayweather. A veteran of two epic UFC fights against McGregor, there are few men who know Conor the way Nate does.
“I think he has a great chance. I’ve fought the top pros in the fight game, the best fighters in the world, and done better than a lot of them. I fought Conor for 25 minutes,
“I believe he’s definitely going to have a chance. Fighting and beating the best boxer pound for pound in the world right now? That’s another story but a fight’s a fight and we’re going to have to watch and see what happens. Hopefully it will be a hell of a fight.”
Nate Diaz on Conor McGregor’s chances against Floyd Mayweather
Diaz definitely has a bone to pick with the boxing community after all the shade that’s been thrown McGregor’s way, and by extension, at Nate Diaz and the entire UFC. Even so, the tapes don’t lie. Diaz went to war with McGregor not once, but twice in the octagon; if anyone knows what the Irishman is capable of, it’s Nate Diaz.
Meanwhile, Floyd Mayweather is feeling pretty good about his chances of beating McGregor. He didn’t mince words when speaking to ESPN about how the fight would go, guaranteeing a knockout.
“Remember what I said: 100% chance this fight won’t go the distance.”
Floyd isn’t known for his power, but his defense. He’s (in)arguably the best defensive fighter of all time, but let’s not forget that 26 of his 49 wins have come via knockout.
However the fight shakes out (presumably with McGregor unconscious), both fighters are going to win big. Conor stands to make, conservatively, $75 million from this fight and Mayweather claims he could pocket up to $350 million.
Perhaps Dave Chappelle, noted boxing enthusiast, put it best:
“If I spend $7 million dollars on a bet on Floyd, then I’ll make a million — but is it gambling if you’re sure?”
