Poised to leave: Riyad Mahrez trying to push through a big-money move

The overrated Leicester City midfielder, Riyad Mahrez, has been released from the Algeria squad in order to formalise his Deadline Day move away from the Foxes.

Roma had previously made three bids for the Algerian, the final one reportedly being in the region of £32 million. Realising they were about to get royally mugged off, the Italian club have since stopped bidding and are now looking at other options.

Behemoths such as Barcelona, Manchester United and Premier League Champions, Chelsea, are said to be interested.

Mahrez has been flown out to Europe with permission from the Algeria coach, Lucas Alcaraz.

However, where exactly he’s going is as yet unknown. Or why exactly everyone’s trying to sign him.

Arsenal, who famously came close to signing the bloke last summer, are supposedly not interested this time around, despite reports of Mahrez checking in at a London hotel. Perhaps he’s just playing with an already tortured Arsene Wenger.

New reports are coming in that Leicester have received no new bids today.

Maybe Roma would have been a decent bet after all. Though the Foxes will no doubt be reluctant to let their Premier League winning hero go, so we can’t blame them for driving up the price. And in this market, anyone can go for pretty much anything.

But no one has come through as a black and white, odds-on favourite to sign the fella. We wouldn’t mind seeing the once masterful midfielder jetting across Europe only to be turned away at every door he knocks at.

Like some sort of modern-day Mary and Joseph.

Some reports suggest Tottenham Hotspur have come in with some vague interest, whilst others are saying he’s been seen in Paris.

So, essentially, no one has a clue where he’s going; possibly not even the man himself. One thing is for sure, however, the Algerian wants out.

But he’s only got a day to get it done, so it’s well and truly crunch time for Riyad Mahrez.
