There was something truly magical about the 90s. It was smack dab in the middle of the booming technological world we live in today and a much simpler time. An age on the edge of innocence, if you will.
Well — speaking of innocence — since iPads had yet to be created, kids were much easier to please without the instant gratification of an app. Some might say the toys from this generation were the best because they were. Too bad kids these days would probably take one look at a pog and go back to playing farmville or some sh*t, but we remember.
Let’s take a trip down memory lane and sing for the unsung heroes of the 90s:
Bop It

Twist it, flick it, bop it, pass it, do do do do doooo. This game was the best whether you played it solo or with a group a friends during recess.
Tamagotchi
Finally got my tamagotchi in the mail I’m so happy to relive my childhood. pic.twitter.com/kcBDa8JvbF

You probably owned a bunch of these as a kid because it was almost impossible to keep it alive for more than a week.
It’s not surprising that this 90s cult favorite got a reboot for its 20th anniversary. What is surprising is… DAMN WE’RE OLD.
Beanie Babies
I used to be obsessed with beanie babies when I was younger and I just found a picture. Man…what a mess… @ColleenB123 pic.twitter.com/AHvGLSgFoP

Everyone probably has a picture like this. Beanie Babies were like crack for 90s kids. You got one for your birthday, maybe 10 for the holidays, and you definitely knew someone that kept that special pink bear in its clear case.
Skip It
Daily workout completed just by playing with this in your driveway. The counter made you want to beat your score and if you were good it was seriously addicting.
Pogs

Pogs and Pokemon trading cards were a big deal in the 90s. Bringing them to school and trading them by the swings was the closest thing to a drug deal as a 9-year-old could get.
Socker Boppers
OK, did anyone else not realize these were called Socker Boppers and not Sock’em Boppers? Mind Blown.
Furby
Aaron knocked over a Furby whilst in the attic and the cats are terrified. Can hear it through the ceiling singing to itself and burping 😂. pic.twitter.com/Ja8LmXNrXZ

The dreaded Furby. They seemed like a good idea at the time but when they woke you up at 2am yelling “feed me”, your Furby ended up living in the closet never to see the light of day again.

It doesn’t get much simpler than this. Even though you probably never actually drew anything that made sense on this toy, unless you were some sort of protege, it helped pass the time on long car rides. Plus shaking it after and destroying whatever you just produced was super satisfying.
Creepy Crawlers
I miss the smell of this thing #creepycrawlers #90s pic.twitter.com/QTqwCjw8aA

This toy made you feel like some sort of mad scientist, creating creepy sticky crawlies that you could throw at your siblings or the wall.
Hit Clips
Ah, the start of the millennium. Before mp3 players there were Hit Clips, samples of songs you loved from artists like Smash Mouth, Britney Spears, and N’Sync. Classic.
Whether you played with Silly Putty, Shrinky Dinks, or owned the very first Game Boy, there’s no denying that the 90s were out of this world. Nostalgia at its finest.
