It’s no secret that many of us follow at least one celebrity on Instagram and are somehow drawn to their day-to-day life, hanging off every post they make on Instagram – what events they’re attending and even what products and brands they’re working with each week, but do these key factors that make a celebrities social media interesting in the first place change once they become a parent?
One of many couples who are new parents are rappers Cardi B and Offset, who are most known for their hit tracks “I Like It”, “Bodak Yellow” and “Bad and Boujee.” The pair frequently posted on social networking app Instagram prior to Cardi B’s pregnancy and highlighted the couples’ lavish lifestyles with photos and videos of their performances, expensive cars, high-end fashion and designer jewellery. Since becoming parents, the pair have swapped their boujee lifestyle for a more muted, refined one that focuses on showing their fans sneak peaks of their new baby girl, Kulture, pregnancy photos and baby-orientated purchases. The couple have also reportedly focused on staying away from the spotlight since the birth of their baby girl in order to spend some quality time together. New mother Cardi B recently spoke out about her absence, saying “I just want to learn how to be a mom,” she continued. “I want to enjoy every single second of it since I’m going back to work.”

While Cardi B and Offset have spent their recent weeks hiding from the spotlight, celebrity model Chrissy Teigen and musician John Legend have dedicated almost their entire social media to showing the world their two beautiful children, Luna and Miles. The couples’ extremely open parenting has connected with a large number of parents around the world that tune into just about any television show, performance or social media post the couple make at the hopes of seeing a glimpse of their journey as parents. Fans have expressed endless love and support to the couple and have referred to the open-style parenting as amusing and relatable. When sharing the moments of success, mistakes, frustration and all of the funny stories in between during her mum life, Teigen teamed up with Pampers Pure to encourage parents to share those relatable, unique, funny, and sometimes incredibly emotional stories that her fans love so much. Teigen said, “We’re encouraging all mums to be able to share their stories and use the hashtag #PureGoals, because we all have these just wild stories.” However, the couples care-free parenting style and openness has not always been idolised and at times left people quick to criticise the smallest details – in one case, the way Teigen sat on a slide with her child. The criticism has seemingly never bothered the couple as seen by the regular photos posted on Instagram of the family and their outings.

While all the celebrities referenced would appear to have different parenting styles, it would seem that all are embracing parenthood and the changes in their personal and work life positively, showcasing their growing families and day to day lives. Celebrities like Khloe Kardashian and Megan Fox join them, almost refreshing their entire social media prescience with a new, healthier style, many swapping endorsements from fashion brands, alcoholic beverages and the newest technology for vitamins and products for healthy infants, while promoting healthy lifestyle choices and acceptance for all genders, sexuality and any career path their new children may potentially follow as they grow up.
So, do celebrities change after becoming parents? In most cases, they definitely do and for all the right reasons.
