5 Trends Started By The Kardashians

1. Waist Trainers

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian were first spotted on their social media profiles wearing waist trainers when the brand, Premadonna had given them a number of waist trainers to try for a certain period of time. The waist trainer was originally designed to be worn for only a few hours per day in order for women to achieve the “hourglass figure.” After receiving the waist trainers, The Kardashian family posted a large number of pictures featuring the waist trainers and how much they loved them on social media and the reaction was something even the Kardashians couldn’t see coming. Many fans from around the world decided to purchase the apparel and started wearing waist trainers regularly, even if against Doctor’s concerns.

2. Jelly/Plastic Shoes

Jelly or plastic anything has become a massive trend and it’s definitely one of those trends that even the most daring are left questioning whether is too much or not. While these pieces have encouraged flaunting what you’ve got and self-confidence, there are always going to be those select pieces that look strange on anyone that isn’t part of the Kardashian family. Jelly/plastic shoes were first famously seen on Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian who made the statement pieces look fashionable, yet casual. Kim Kardashian’s husband, Kanye West gave them each a collection of these shoes from his YEEZY clothing line and they have since appeared on the runway in a selection of different colours and styles, as well as in the public paired with different styles.

3. Bike Shorts As Outerwear

Sisters, Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner to celebrities like Bella Hadid, Bike shorts have been turned into a new stylish trend that can be used as everyday attire at events and outings, and of course lounging around the house. Although the trend first came back into style recently when Kim Kardashian was seen wearing them on an outing to Disney World with her children. Bella Hadid followed the trend shortly after and wore a pair of bike shorts out clubbing with friends in Cannes, while Kim Kardashian continued to regularly showcase her favourite pairs with stiletto heels on her Instagram and Twitter.

Bike shorts have also recently appeared on various runways from a number of designers and brands. Virgil Abloh showcased bike shorts under a double-breasted blazer late last year for Off-White, while Rihanna was also seen debuting a series of lycra shorts on her recent runway.

4. Lip Fillers

In early 2015, a preview episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians had aired, in which Khloé Kardashian asked her youngest sister, Kylie Jenner, who at the time was only aged 17, about her enhanced lips. As a result, Google searches for lip fillers peaked globally, and one London clinic reported a 70% rise in enquiries over the 24 hours that followed.

Previous to the episode aired, Kylie Jenner ‘s lips were covered by media globally and exactly how Jenner had achieved her luscious look was a mystery due to Jenner previously swearing that her lips were simply a make-up trick. During an episode of Keeping Up The The Kardashians, Jenner had stated, “I’m just not ready to talk to reporters about my lips yet”, she continued, “People are so quick to judge me on everything.”

5. Ripped Jeans

Denim jeans in it’s own has thousands of trends that are increasingly experimental over the decades — from $168 extreme cut-out jeans to Denim jackets with extra long sleeves that could wrap around your entire body three times, it seems that the typical edgy tears at the knees and thighs we’ve all grown to love are just simply not enough anymore. Which brings us to the current popular Denim trend – butt-ripped jeans that feature oval-shaped distressed rips underneath ones backside, which was arguably made popular by no other than fashion mogul, Kylie Jenner when she posed for an Instagram photo, confidently showcasing the look.
