Will This Year’s Wrestlemania Be A Damp Squib

With only a couple of weeks until Wrestlemania things are starting to take shape. The card is all but booked and we are now just counting down the days to the granddaddy of them all. But is this year’s card a bit underwhelming? Check out our opinions and see if you agree.

Brock Lesnar Vs Seth Rollins

Brock Lesnar really isn’t the draw he once was. Even his most ardent fans are growing tired of the title not appearing on RAW every week. At one point an appearance by Brock was considered a big deal, these days it doesn’t have that feel anymore. Does he deserve his spot at Wrestlemania? probably. Are we excited by it? nope!

Ronda Rousey Vs Becky Lynch Vs Charlotte Flair

This has been the biggest storyline in the company since the Royal Rumble. My only worry is that it has been oversold now. The build feels a bit dragged out. It is odd because most of the storylines feel rushed and undersold and this has the opposite feel.

Buddy Murphy Vs Tony Nese

Unfortunately this will probably be relegated to pre-show fodder. Buddy Murphy needs to be doing more than just killing it on 205 live. Then you could say that about the majority of the division!

Triple H Vs Batista

Batista is supposed to be on the card to provide star power. And it is fair to say that he is in some pretty big movies. However, he isn’t exactly the star of them. Beyond the Guardians franchise can you really see Batista starring in any successful movies? Nor can we! This could be painful to watch.

Kurt Angle Vs Baron Corbin

Bless Kurt. One of the most talented competitors to lace up a pair of boots he is a shell of the star he once was. He still gets a nice pop from the crowd but it’s more out of respect for what he once was. His feud with Corbin has almost no heat.

Shane McMahon Vs The Miz

Shane McMahon is in good shape and he is good at jumping off things. However, if the Miz doesn’t beat him it will be an insult. The guy is a workhorse who is solid in the ring and brilliant on the mic.

AJ Styles Vs Randy Orton

This has potential to be a decent bout. The build has been hard to watch as neither man is particularly charismatic. Still what this bout lacks in heat it will atone for in terms of match quality. In AJ we trust.

Samoa Joe Vs Rey Mysterio

This has potential to be a decent match. Joe is a solid worker and really could do with a long run to cement his credibility. Don’t be surprised if Andrade gets added to this bout.

Bobby Lashley Vs Finn Balor

This feud has never really caught on. This just seems a waste of Finn Balor. Especially given his strong showing against Lesnar. They need to use Balor better.

Roman Reigns Vs Drew McIntyre

This lacks real build and having two big men go at it can be hard to watch. Both are talented though, so could go either way.

Bayley and Sasha Banks Vs The IIconics Vs Natalya and Beth Phoenix Vs Nia Jax and Tamina

Having so many teams involved will kill the heat for this feud. Which is a shame. It’s great giving Beth her “mania moment” but a standard tag match may have helped elevate the prestige of the titles. Instead it seems like a cheap way to get more people on the card.

Daniel Bryan Vs Kofi Kingston

This is probably the match with the best build. Delaying gratification and stacking the deck against Kofi is old school booking at its best. Will we get a big pay off at #kofimania?
