Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order: Gameplay, Release Date & Trailers

The extremely anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order release is literally just around the corner, being released in full later this November. Following the lead up to it’s release, we finally got a good look at gameplay during E3 2019, which happily showed off its focus on up close and personal lightsaber combat and a few cool force abilities. Just recently EA released a new story trailer showing the protagonist teaming up with his new friends while on the run from an infamous Jedi killer.

Fallen Order’s main character is a young force user named Cal Kestis. Re-spawn says that unlike other Star Wars games, we won’t have the option to tempt Cal with the dark side of the force. Fallen Order will be a more linear story less suited to branching narrative choices. Instead, the game will explore the dark times following The Revenge of the Sith when the Empire is at the height of its power and Cal and other force users are in hiding.

If you’re a Star Wars fan that simply can’t wait for its release, well, you won’t have to wait too much longer for the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order release date to arrive after all. EA has recently confirmed that the game will come out on November 15, 2019, which is coincidently within its previous release window of “holiday 2019.”

The trailer teases Saw’s role, lightsaber fights, and a few other characters as well as the ‘thoughtful combat’ style, which basically means you have to size up opponents and made decisions as to what’s the best way to beat them.

The story picks up after Episode III. The official summary reads: “From Respawn comes a brand-new action-adventure game which tells an original Star Wars story around a surviving Padawan set shortly after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith.”

The main character is Cal Kestis who survived when the Emperor activated Order 66 ordering Stormtroopers to kill all Jedi. Cal has been hiding since then – between the Episode III and Episode IV films. The idea is for Cal to find new allies during the game.

It will feature “thoughtful and fun melee combat using the lightsaber and Force powers” as you try to escape the Inquisitors and keep the Jedi legacy alive. Cal is being pursued by an inquisitor known as the Second Sister, and the Empire’s elite Purge Troopers, after accidentally revealing his force powers to save a friend.

“Players will also use traversal and other platforming abilities” EA says, “to strategically overcome opponents and solve puzzles.”

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be released on 15th November, 2019. The game will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox. You can already pre-order it on the EA website as well as Amazon. There’s also a Deluxe Edition which includes a director’s cut suite with behind-the-scenes features.

Director Stig Asmussen told Game Informer that Metroid Prime influenced the upgrade system, while Dark Souls and Blood borne inspired the progression and exploration. He and Vince Zampella (CEO of developer Re-spawn) noted that the game is part of the Star Wars canon, so the new characters will show up elsewhere in the franchise. You also can’t choose between the light and dark sides of the Force – Cal’s path is set.
