Images of Manor Racing’s 2017 F1 Car Emerge

Manor Racing don’t look like they will be on the grid in 2017, which is a shame, especially when they looked close to completing the design of their 2017 challenger, the MRT05.

Below is an image of the wind tunnel model, that reveals some features on the car that might be taken up by other teams:

There is also an official drawing below that highlights the shark-fin will be making a return:

A better image still reveals that at the rear of the car, you can just make out a double rear-wing mounts. Motorsport techie Craig Scarborough suggested that this could lead to other teams taking the same solution:

The MRT05 does look like it would have been fierce. It’s such a shame that the car will have been fully conceptualised at this stage. The small British team have been really unlucky with the timing of Liberty’s takeover. If the takeover had been a few years ago, then maybe Manor wouldn’t have been as financially insecure.

The news of Manor’s fate seemed to be sealed a few days ago, a message from the team’s administrators announced,

“Regrettably since the appointment of administrators no investment has been secured in the limited time available to continue the group in its present form.

“With no sustainable operational or financial structure in place to maintain the group as a going concern, the joint administrators have now ceased trading JRSL and unfortunately have had to send all staff home from work today Friday 27 January.”
