The reality show, called Cris’s Tryst, is set to debut after the Euro 2016 tournament concludes. It will follow a format similar to The Bachelor, where contestants compete to win dates with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Deemed too risqué for traditional television, the show will be available exclusively through Netflix.

The Portuguese superstar has been the face of countless advertising campaigns, but Cris’s Tryst marks the first time he has crossed into the acting world.

Ronaldo addressed some of his concerns about making the show.

I just wanted to make sure the guys were good looking, you know what I mean?

Me? With an ugly guy? It just wouldn’t make sense.

Ronaldo is following in the footsteps of Vinnie Jones, longtime Premier League star turned actor who you remember from classics like Lock, Stock, And Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.

The show, which crosses many traditional boundaries, is totally on brand for Netflix.

The streaming giant has been pouring money into creating their own edgy, original content. Reports indicate that Netflix will spend 6 billion dollars – yes, that’s Billion with a B – on content in 2016 alone.

Terms of Netflix’s deal with Cristiano Ronaldo have not been disclosed, but Ronaldo has come out and said that making Cris’s Tryst was never about money.

I have enough money to last me ten lifetimes. This isn’t about money. It’s about art. And meeting great guys.

Viewers will have to wait until after Euro 2016 to catch Cris’s Tryst, which could well end up being Netflix’s biggest original content success to date.
