Donald Trump sinks 30-foot putts in his sleep

Newly-appointed White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci claimed that President Trump sinks 3-foot putts. Ok, who doesn’t? But then later claimed the 45th President sinks 30-footers.

“He’s the most competitive person I’ve ever met,” Scaramucci said. “I’ve seen this guy throw a dead spiral through a tire. I’ve seen him at Madison Square Garden with a topcoat on. He’s standing in the key and he’s hitting foul shots and swishing them, okay? He sinks 30-foot putts. I don’t see this guy as a guy that’s ever under siege. This is a very, very competitive person.”

He may not sink them all of the time but it’s not far-fetched to think Trump isn’t a bad putter on golf’s dance floor. No, one is claiming that Trump is a wizard with the putter like Jordan Spieth, but Trump may be the greatest golfer to ever hold a place in the oval office.

President’s Who Loved The Game:

Trump has accumulated 19 club championships (at his own courses, but we’ll still give it to him) and has a low single-digit handicap. Last fall, Trump held a 2.9 handicap which was better than a 77-year-old Jack Nicklaus’ 3.9. Trump may have seven years on the Golden Bear but you don’t get a 2.9 handicap three-putting.

Clearly Trump plays the ‘old-man’s game’ (a bit of a quirky swing but effective nonetheless). Put it in the fairway, put it on the green, and two-putt for your par.

Now, perhaps Trump reads greens more effectively after driving over them a few times. Earlier this year we saw Trump ride on a green in a golf cart at one of his courses. This may go down as one of the more presidential power-moves the U.S. has ever seen.

Those tire tracks may create paths for putts to go in a bit easier. Remember the obvious path in Happy Gilmore?

Even if Trump can or cannot make 30-footers with his eyes closed, Scaramucci assures us that the president is a winner. Maybe he’ll make golf great again too (post-Tiger Woods era joke).

“The President is a winner,” Scaramucci said. “Okay, and what we’re going to do is we’re going to do a lot of winning.”
